In a refreshing diversion that might not be very blatantly characteristic of the nepotism infected domain that Bollywood has largely been over the years, the starry lanes of tinsel town has also been witness to such arrays of talent that are as diversive. From actors who have dabbled in singing, directing and screenwriting to assistants behind the camera who have successful transitioned to being a dominant presence in front of it, the glitz of glamour often a times comes also resplendent in the dazzle of dexterity.
One such charismatic personality who have graced the alleys of this land where shooting dreams and starry auras sum it up all has been the ever lovable, ever intriguing man of the masses. A phenomenal actor and no less phenomenal a force behind some of the most memorable dialogues in many iconic films, Kader Khan has been a legend unparalleled. Having made his appearance in some 300 movies over the course of his illustrious career in Bollywood, here’s a star sans the starry tantrums. His many comic roles in a wide range of films is what made Kader Khan a household name, even when he starred as the lead or as the villain in quite a few of his filmy ventures.
Less explored however is the realm of highly commonplace yet iconic dialogues that this man had let his pen spell magic through with such panache. Among the many educated stars of Bollywood having completed his graduation in civil engineering, Kader Khan sure is among the doyen of Bollywood actors whose movies are a definite reminder of his legacy. But beyond that and as exemplarirly, his also is a talent that does not confine him to being just a commendable actor. Through his many verses and one liners or even more effectively with a mere set of words churning out phrases, Khan essentially held on to the colloquial jargon so fluently in even his artistic writings that establishes further his geniosity.
What perhaps sets Kader Khan apart from the rest of his clan in Bollywood is his versatility. Either as one of the Bollywood actors to have acted in the most movies or as the dialogue writer who could effectively set off other much established names in a tizzying complex, Khan was second to none. Not practically at least.
From endowing Amitabh Bachchan with his much raved about Angry Young Man image to being the man somewhat directing the memorable David Dhawan- Govinda range of films to himself starring in some of the most remarkable comic flicks with Govinda, Kader Khan has helped some of the biggest stars of the industry establish their prowess as well. That’s indeed what you come to expect of a man defined by his success through struggles and hard work.
And even when Khan’s dialogues are not the ones to be exactly endowed with the proverbial grandeur expected of men well versed in Urdu, that does not render any of his dialogues any less competent. In fact it is a marked stature of the versatility his talent encompassed that let Khan make a mark by wading in a territory more familiar. In enthusing his vocabulary of words with such styles that brought out not just the deepest emotions but also touched upon commonly prevalent but no less hard hitting feels in the thought hierarchy, Khan established himself once again as a man as being one among the masses. Needless to say, in sticking to what appealed as the norm, Khan perhaps also doubled the entertainment quota of such films he so deftly worded.
From the iconic Sholay line “Itna sannata kyon hain bhai?” to some preachy Muqaddar ka Sikandar verses and the sometimes profound, sometimes hilarious ones that are credited to him, Kader Khan has for sure immortalised himself through his impressive legacy. Here’s listing some of the lines that has flowed from the pen of this veteran man of many talents whose wit was perhaps only an extension of how sedulous and complete he was as a person-
