Using nuclear power for airplanes is a concept that has been explored in the realm of advanced aerospace technologies. This concept is often associated with the term “nuclear-powered aircraft” or “nuclear-powered airplanes.”
Nuclear Reactor Propulsion:
Instead of traditional jet engines that rely on burning fuel to produce thrust, nuclear-powered airplanes would utilize a nuclear reactor to generate the necessary propulsion. The nuclear reactor heats air to high temperatures. The heated fluid is then expelled at high speeds through a nozzle to produce thrust, similar to the principles behind jet propulsion.
Extended Flight Durations:
The key advantage of nuclear-powered airplanes is their potential for extremely long flight durations. Since nuclear reactors can generate a continuous and ample supply of energy, these aircraft could remain airborne for extended periods, potentially weeks or even months, without needing to land for refueling.
Safety concerns are a major challenge in developing nuclear-powered aircraft. Nuclear reactors contain radioactive materials, and any failure or accident could have severe consequences. Nuclear reactors and their associated components can be heavy, which can impact the aircraft’s overall weight, efficiency, and performance.
Adequate shielding is required to protect the crew and passengers from radiation exposure. The use of nuclear power in aviation raises legal and regulatory challenges due to the potential risks involved.

After the successful quantum-inspired first day of SIT & JUB Insights in Technology Conference 2021, the second day focused on Artificial Intelligence.
It started with the keynote of the day –Artificial Intelligence for Industrie 4.0 by Wolfgang Wahlster, Founding Director of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
It was followed by an energetic talk on AI for Business & Finance chaired by Fabio Pammolli, Member of SIT Strategic Advisory Board along with keynote speaker, Fabrizio Lillo and invited guest speaker Jean-Philippe Bouchaud.
Andrey Ustyuzhanin, MIPT Alumni and AI/MI expert consultant at SIT, chaired the “AI for Live and Materials Science” session with keynote speaker Duccio Medini, Mohammad Saeed Bahramy, Michele Ceriotti, and Michael Bronstein.
The second half of the day was devoted to AI Integrated Platforms for Science, chaired by Nick Dobrovolskiy, CEO of SIT Autonomous, along with Mohamed Saeed Bahramy, Duccio Medini, Konstantin Novoselov, Ankur Modi and a panel discussion about Connecting Business and Science with JUB Alumni: Kevin Korte, Cornelia Scheitz, Andreas Birk and Hashem Al-Ghaili.
The conference came to a close with a panel discussion on Machine Intelligence for sports with Ilya Shimchik , Team Principal at Acronis SIT Autonomous team.

EctoLife is a concept for the world’s first artificial womb facility that will be able to grow 30,000 babies a year. According to biotechnologist Hashem Al-Ghaili, it is based on over 50 years of groundbreaking scientific research conducted by researchers worldwide.
The idea of artificial wombs for human babies is a concept that has been explored in science fiction for many years, but recently has become a reality, thanks to Hashem Al-Ghaili and his brain child Ectolife. Ectolife is the world’s first artificial womb facility. Hashem Al-Ghaili says that almost fifty years’ worth of ground-breaking scientific research behind this institution, which has the capacity to develop thirty thousand newborns each year.
However, this technology also raises several ethical concerns that must be considered before it can be widely adopted.
The first ethical concern surrounding artificial wombs is how they will affect relationships between parents and children. Artificial wombs could potentially change the traditional family structure by allowing multiple individuals or entities to have legal rights over a child without any biological relationship. This could create complex legal issues regarding parental rights and responsibilities, as well as potentially damaging psychological effects on children who may not understand their unique family structure or lack of biological connection with their parents.
There are also concerns about how safe these artificial environments will be for developing fetuses and newborns. Although current research suggests that ectogenesis can provide an adequate environment for fetal development, there is still much research needed before this technology can be deemed safe for widespread use.
